Through the semester, citing sources has played a large role in my ability to properly write a paper. By citing sources, the reader is able to understand what points the author is making and then my analysis is able to show how it links bad to my thesis. Citing sources has been something that has been common in my writing career, both at the University of New England and in high school. When using multiple sources, it is necessary to cite correctly so the reader is able to go and see exactly what the original author said. One issue that was common for me was citing block quotes incorrectly. In my first draft that I used a block quote, I didn’t put the quote in the right formation. For my final draft and all drafts that I have and will write, I will properly know how to cite. I also never had to write my own citations before. I would use a generator to make the citation for me. For the first draft, I used a generator to check myself, but this year I made an effort to do my own. The generator sometimes makes small errors and when they are done by an actual person, these mistakes aren’t there.
